A story of size
MZ originated on the summer day in 2016, following a long day of shopping in Paris that ended with the purchase of a pair of sandals too big and uncomfortable. The favourite sentence of sales assistant in shoe shops during that intense day, were "we start from size 36", "the only pair in 35 has already been sold", "size 34, it will be in the child's section"…
A question then arose in the mind of the future creator of MZ: "Am I the only one to have this problem? ". She then asked her family and friends, conducted research and finally proved what she was quite sure already "no, she was not alone". The percentage of petite feet between size 32 and size 36 represent about 23% of the female population.
The idea of creating a brand of women's shoes dedicated to small sizes was born. Its creator, Min Zhou Carpentier, aims to create elegant, modern, comfortable styles, with use of quality leather. She then travelled to Spain and Italy looking for manufacturers who stand out for their know-how and able to make models in small sizes in an excellent finish.
October 2017, Min Zhou Carpentier launched the brand MZ Made for Petite. This is the beginning of the adventure.
Tradition as a source of inspiration
Inspired by her journey to Italy and Spain meeting local manufacturers, and always passionate by traditional craftsmanship, the designer decided to create her shoe collections by updating, extending and modernising the works based on each manufacturer’s tradition and family heritage. Playing on lines, materials, colours, and details, MZ likes to bring a touch of modernity to styles having crossed the time, without losing in elegance and comfort.
The know-how Made in Spain and Italy
To ensure that its petite shoes are qualitative and comfortable, MZ only uses leather made in Spanish and Italian tanneries.
To work in the respect of the tradition and the authenticity, we believe that it is important to choose a manufacturer by its know-how. For its collections, MZ therefore produces all shoes at several manufacturers, each selected for one or more specialties.
Our main Italian manufacturer is based in the Tuscany region, which is known for its rich culture in art and leather work.
This small atelier has an exceptional hand-weaving technique and fin finish with high quality leather shoes. They handmade mainly our brogues, moccasins and wedge sneakers, and retro line pumps.
Our main Spanish manufacturer is based in the province of Alicante, which is known for its shoe manufacturing. This manufacturer selected for the feminine styles and comfort of their ultra-soft flexi soles. They make some of our pumps, sandals and boots throughout the seasons.
Now that you know everything, it's time to (re)discover our collection .
